USPS Approval for Wafer Seal Closure!

EnvyPak’s line of Automation letter rate (ALR) envelopes are now approved for sealing with wafer seals as noted in the below revision to USPS case #91355.

Mail pieces that weigh one ounce or less, are permitted to have the flap secured with three 1” wafer seals made of no less than 2 mil thick clear polypropylene. The wafers must be placed as follows: one wafer no less than .25″ away from the left edge of the envelope, one wafer in the center of the flap, and one wafer no less than .25” away from the right edge of the envelope.

The updated sealing options for EnvyPak Automation Letter Rate (ALR) envelopes when machine inserted are listed below:

  • Hot melt glue
  • Automated peel-and-stick tape liner removal
  • Clear wafer seal

Per the USPS, if your clients use an EnvyPak ALR envelope they must present a copy of USPS case #91355 along with a sample of their mail piece to the Business Mail Entry (BME) acceptance personnel.
